AquaGym Swimmers end 2010 NAGS On A High Note

AquaGym continued to claim medals on last night of NAGS 2010 and finished third in Club's overall points. nags-2010-thumb

  • Butterfliers, Sophia Batchelor and Kelly Scammell claimed gold and silver medals in the 200 Fly event.
  • Breaststrokers, Isaac Leota, Mika Saniuela-McEntyre and Ryan Gage took home two silver medals and a bronze medal for the 200 Breast event.
  • Sophia claimed her second gold for the night with the 50 Free final and also another NZ Age Group record! Isaac Leota claimed his first gold for the night with his 50 Free final.
  • Medley swimmers, Kelly Scammell, Sophia Batchelor claimed a bronze and gold for their 200 IM final swims.

AquaGym Swim Cub congratulates its 2010 National Age Group competitors for their performance in and out of the pool.

The swimmers celebrated their hard earned success  with an after meet dance - Survivor NAGS was the theme. verveclub_thumb

More SNZ Age Group Records Tumbling on Day 4 NAGS

AquaGym swimmers continue to perform  on Day 4 National Age Group Championships  at QE2 gaining 7 medals and three NZ Age Group Records .relay_medals_nags_thumb

Star of the Meet, Sophia Batchelor,  finished the night's racing breaking  a third Age Group national record for the session in her backstroke leg of the 15 years and under Canterbury women's 200 Medley  relay.  She  won two gold medals  for her 50  backstroke  with a time of 29.81 (829 Fina points)  and 100 Fly with a time of  1:02.60 (763 Fina points) breaking NZ Age Group records in those events.

Abbie Johnston took out another Gold medal for her 100 breaststroke event with a time of 1:15.97 earning 667 Fina points. Kellly Scammell, another gold medallist for the evening with her  100 Fly swim with a time of 1:07.91.

cameron_silver_thumbSilver medallists for the evening were Cameron James for his 100 backstroke events and Ryan Gage for his 200 Breaststroke event. Alex Laidllaw swam to a bronze medal in the 100 Fly event with a time of 1:03.33.

Other finalists were Pia Hulley earning 4th placing in her 50 backstroke final, Philip Scammell   who achieved 6th placing and Isaac Leota who finished 5th in the  200 Breaststroke final, and  Laura McFadden who finisheryan_silver_thumbd 10th in the 100 Fly event.

 The night's racing ended on a high note with the men's 15 years and under Canterbury A and B relay teams placing 1st and 3rd ,  while the girls' 15 years and under Canterbury A relay team  placed 1st.The boys 16 years and under Canterbury relay team finished 3rd while  the Girls 16 years and under Canterbury team finished 2nd. AquaGym swimmers were represented in each relay team.
