Day 1
And we are off! After packing up the bus - always a mission, we headed up to sunny Nelson. Unfortunately we had to leave our Team Captain, Charles, behind with suspected appendicitis. (In the end, not that - but does not have an appendix anymore!)
Arrived safely in Nelson, unpacked and off to the pool. Kids enjoyed swimming with the sun on their backs, albeit a killer session for their first time in a 50 metre pool for some time. Ran home and arrived quite exhausted ready for tea.
After some yummy cooked chickens & salad for tea, the kids got into their teams to decide on team names and design of their flag.
There are four teams:
Mole: Rachael, Chris, Abbie, George, Koppany, Jed, Sam, Alice, Mere.
Krockidily: Charlotte, Cameron, Morgan, Ben, Laura F, Ruth, Wallis, GV.
Pride of the South: Sophia, Alex Y, Kelly, Arran, Henry, Cameron Jeff, Anna, Grace, Greer
The symbol: Alex L, Stu, Pia, Phillip, Thom, Blake, Laura M, Erica, Marie-Claire.
Swimmer of the day awards went to: Kelly, Wallis, Alex Y & Henry.
Each earning 200 points for their team.
Then off to bed for a well-earned sleep.
Day 2
Kids up and rearing to go. Off to the pool for a 2km time trial. Had a restful day in preparation for a test set. Kids did a ‘how to survive a plane crash' activity and team captains hid their flags; then headed back to the pool.
Ran back to Garrin College Boarding Hostel for yummy butter chicken & rice for tea.
Teams were then given an egg (not boiled), to look after for the duration of the camp. This was named and decorated. The egg has to be taken everywhere with them. Every team member has to have a turn looking after their egg. They can be baby sat while the team run back and have basinets (egg cartons) for the drive home and to sleep in. Points lost for smashed eggs.

Krockidily: Miss Fifi
Pride of the South: Miss Speights Playmate
The Symbol: "Wilson!"
