Leanne Speechley
Leanne is the Head Coach of AquaGym Swim Club. She is a Silver License Australian Swim Coach with a Bachelor Degree in Sport Science.
She has 16 years coaching experience with National Age and Open Swimmers and 21 Years coaching State Age and Open Swimmers.
Since 1995 (with the exception of a two year period) Leanne has been at Kingscliff Swim Club, NSW where she coached open and age National, State and Junior swimmers on deck up to 30 hours per week total, oversaw programme planning of all swim squads, supervised Junior coaches and Learn to Swim instructors and coordinated school swimming.
From 1998 - 2000, Leanne worked as Head Coach at SOMERSET COLLEGE, on the Gold Coast where she implement and design entire coaching, learn to swim and school swimming program from scratch, employed, educated and lead Coaching and Learn to swim Staff, launched the new swimming club with Gold Coast District Swimming Association, liaised with school head master and sports master re school swimming program and was Gold Coast Regional Head Coach.
Leanne is competent in her profession, knowledgeable in different learning and communication styles and a passionate, energetic coach. Leanne coaches via a communcation based framework called Think Feel Know (TFK) Australia which offered her a new lease on life. TFK framework methodologies have provided Leanne with more insights into successful communication with colleagues, clients, athletes and parents. She has also worked with the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association of Australia (ASCTA).
Cathe Grater- Nugent
Cathe the Assistant Coach at AquaGym Swim Club. She primarily works with the Warriors Squad. She is a member of NZSCAT (New Zealand Swim Coaches and Teachers Association), and has her Junior Coach level 1 certificate. She is working towards achieving her Bronze coach accreditation.
Cathe is currently in a 3 year Bachelor of Applied Science (sport & exercise science) degree at CPIT. She brings knowledge and competencies in sports psychology, biomechanics, communication, fitness assessment, nutrition, exercise physiology and anatomy to our coaching programme.
Cathe has a huge passion for swimming, having been a competitive swimmer in the past. She is currently an active member of a Masters swimming group as well as training for NZ ocean swims

Julian Bennett-Longley
Julian is the Junior Coach primarily working with the Slayers squad, a transitional squad for advanced learn to Swimm swimmers seeking a pthway into competitive and Club swimming. Julian is a former swimmer and Club captain of AquaGym Swim Club, having just retired in April 2010. Following his retirement from swimming, he is interested in sharing his knowledge and experience as a swimmer. He believes his experience of training hard under a range of coaches and being consistent while not being a top national swimmer has taught him many lessons which he can pass onto swimmers. Julian will work towards his Junior Coach level 1 certificate this year.
Julian is a BCom and BSc student at Canterbury University . Julian continues with his studies while coaching part tiime and giving back to the sport that he regards as having given him so much. Julian rates fitness highly in his lifestyle and says the discipline fitness brings has assisted him in all aspects of his academic life.
